Sisters making scents-About us

Sisters Making Scents is a small and proudly Canadian company.
We have been pampering bodies one at a time since 1999!
Sisters Making Scents became a vision one very dreary January day in
1999 while I was visiting my big Sister.
At the time, she lived in a small town on the "Sunshine Coast" What I was
looking at out her window was not a beautiful sunshine coast but a raging Sea.
While hanging out & waiting out the storem my sister had come across an ad in a magazine about a "Spa in a box."
She pointed to the ad and said, "You make soap and stuff with essential oils... We should do this!"
Working with essential oils has been a passion of mine for many years.
At this point I had been making natural soap for about 3-4 years.
And so ' Sisters Making Scents' was born!
So the question was, were these two Sisters making sense and would their plan make cents??

And so it began, the scheming, planning, creating, fun and hard work that goes into the beginnings of a cottage industry.
The biggest challenge in our business was the fact that my sister & I lived in two different towns, two ferries apart. It was not an easy way to run a small business. We managed between long weekend soap making adventures, burning the midnight oil and racking up our telephone bills.

I have been the sole proprietor of Sisters since 2000. My big sister was unable to continue this venture with me due to illness in our family.
Out of love & respect I have kept the name.
I miss you big Sis, especially the times when you ran around looking for your glasses so you could read the scales!
Now it's my turn to run around looking for my glasses!
A Sisters Quote;
Thank you for hugging me when all the world went wrong.
Thank you for reading to me when I had measles.
Thank you for blowing my nose when I was very small.
Thank you for holding my hand when I was horribly afraid.
Thank you for taking care of me.
Pam Brown,b.1928
In 2005 what started out as a fun little side business became my `day job`
In 2009 I bought another soap company" The City Soap Company" one of my private labels. It has become my major wholesale line and is now available in many retail stores.
As things got busier we moved to the Valley for more space and some extra hands.
My husband has been wonderfully supportive and his assistance is invaluable to me.
Our customers often tease him about ``not being one of the sisters` when he helps me out at various markets.
